SUGAR

I was surprised to learn that regular sugars are NOT VEGAN.
Apparently they are processed with something called BONE CHAR.
See: Animal Ingredients in White Sugar
I use very little sugar, and it helps that I'm not one of those people who crave sweets. If anything, SALT is more my weakness.

The sugar I choose to buy, and use in all my recipes, is Zulka.

There are also vegan powdered sugars available, Florida Crystals Organic Powdered Raw Cane Sugar, at roughly $3-$4 per pound.
I read that you can make your own powdered sugar with the unrefined granules in the food processor, and gave it a try.
My results were mediocre, but so it my food processor. :) IT DID WORK, I should say.

Moderation is key, I believe. I think it might be worth noting that the countries with the longest-lived population, eat very little meat, OR processed sweets.
