Tempeh Teriyaki

  • 1 tb liq smoke
  • 1/4 c maple syrup
  • 2 TB rice vinegar
  • 2 TB mirin (or extra rice vinegar)
  • 2 TB liq aminos (or soy sauce)
  • 2 blocks tempeh cut into 6 ea
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil
  • 1 onion, 6 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ginger, pepper flakes
  • Sesame seeds, chives or scallions to serve

  • Marinate in the liquid ingredients for approx. 30 min.

    Add chopped onion and garlic, simmer on
    medium-low heat for approx. 15 minutes each side.

    (Garlic peels much more easily if soaked in water prior.)

    Then let cook down until sauce starts to thicken.


    Works very well with

    bok-choy stir fry
    made immediately after.
